The sports industry has indeed grown extensively - from Rs.43.7 billion in 2013 to Rs. 48 billion ($713 million) in 2015 and is
witnessing a boom that will benefit the sports business in the years to come. Besides exercising a significant impact on the economy due to its close association with other sectors,including education, realestate and tourism, the sector is also contributing to improvements in general health and well-being of a country.
Adhering to this growth, a clutch of innovative startups, riding on the growing enthusiasm for sports in the country, are tapping in to the increasingly lucrative sports sector in India. Entrepreneurs– some of whom are amateur sports people are setting up new businesses ranging from e-tailing sports apparel to providing analytics to improve performance. In fact, there is a considerable rise in the growth of sports start-ups featuring events, merchandise, business and infrastructure- in the larger context of things, and by and large all of them are sharing a fair share of investments for them to be developed and recognized, both national and internationally.
Recognizing the same, we have featured “10 Best Startups in Sports” in our current edition of startupcity.
