Raincheck Earth Co., the company behind Cherrapunji Craft Gin, has raised $1.2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Japanese investors. The round also saw participation from AngelList India Syndicate, which increased its investment following its previous backing in the May 2023 seed round.

The fresh capital will support domestic and international expansion, helping Cherrapunji Craft Gin grow its distribution and market presence in key regions.

Cherrapunji Craft Gin was founded by Mayukh Hazarika in 2023 in Cherrapunji, Meghalaya—the wettest place on Earth, known for receiving the highest annual rainfall. The gin is uniquely crafted using purified rainwater and botanicals sourced from Northeast India.

The brand has focused on sustainability by using military-grade stainless steel bottles, which help reduce its carbon footprint while providing a reusable alternative to traditional packaging. In 2024, Cherrapunji Gin was voted ‘Gin Bottle of the Year’ by readers of The Gin Guide.

Since its launch, the gin has gained strong global recognition, winning 13 international awards for its quality and innovation.

With its expanding footprint and increasing accolades, Raincheck Earth Co. aims to establish Cherrapunji Craft Gin as a leading brand in the premium spirits industry worldwide.

The startup will utilize the funds to grow its presence in India and internationally, enhancing distribution and brand visibility for Cherrapunji Craft Gin in key markets. It plans to strengthen marketing efforts, establish new partnerships, and expand retail and online sales channels to reach a wider audience.
