Buupass, a business in Kenya's mobility sector, has received a $1.3 million investment from Mumbai-based Artha India Ventures. The project represents the family office's third investment on the continent of Africa.

Other investors in the round included the Google Black Founders Fund, Gullit VC, Five35 VC, FrontEnd Ventures, Adaverse, Renew Capital, Changecom, XA Network, Ajim Capital, and Daba Finance. The round was led by Founders Factory Africa.

A full-stack bus management system is provided by BuuPass, a 2016 startup that uses a business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) strategy to provide fleet owners control over operations, inventory, and sales. Via their marketplace, which includes websites, applications, and USSD codes, it assists clients in searching for, comparing, and booking tickets through various channels.

"Artha India Investments is placing an early wager to support extremely promising category winners. BuuPass has assumed the initiative in developing digital rails for Africa's intercity transportation infrastructure in that vein. We are optimistic that BuuPass will develop quickly into a market leader based on Artha's competence in navigating this digitization strategy in India, said Anirudh A. Damani, Director of Artha India Investments.
