INDRA, a provider of intelligent water treatment systems, has secured $4 million in a Series A funding round. The funding was spearheaded by Swiss cleantech leader Emerald Technology Ventures and Mela Ventures, with participation from Peak Sustainability Ventures and The Climate Angels. Co-Founded in 2017 by Amrit and Krunal, INDRA addresses the intricate challenges of water treatment in industrial and sewage sectors through its patented electro-chemical oxidation & coagulation process. The company's technology employs ionic reactions to eliminate pollutants, ranging from heavy metals to pathogens, in wastewater.

INDRA stands out due to its exclusive water treatment solution a plug-and-play system that occupies 90% less space than current alternatives while recovering up to 99% of treated water. This distinctive and modular solution can be implemented independently or in conjunction with existing water treatment methods. The company currently focuses on treating industrial effluents from sectors such as textiles, steel manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals, as well as sewage from hotels and commercial properties. In light of growing water scarcity concerns in countries like India and Southeast Asia, INDRA's innovative approach addresses the increasing disparity between wastewater generation and treatment.

Amrit Om Nayak, INDRA's Co-Founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Mela Ventures, stating, "Solving the wastewater treatment challenge needs continuous innovation and relentless commitment. I am very excited that Mela Ventures shares the same passion for sustainable solutions. This partnership gives us a lot of conviction to confidently pursue and deliver on our promise to drive the world’s transition towards sustainable water management".

N. Krishnakumar, Managing Partner at Mela Ventures, highlighted the alignment of their investment with sustainability, emphasizing the urgent global attention required for wastewater treatment. He commended INDRA for comprehensively addressing the wastewater challenge with minimal infrastructure and space requirements in a sustainable manner. Krishnakumar conveyed his excitement for INDRA's commitment to making the world self-sufficient in water usage, expressing his best wishes for the team's endeavors.
