CometChat, a communications platform-as-a-service (CpaaS) startup, has raised $10 million in a Series A round of funding. Existing investors Matchstick Ventures, Range Ventures, and Unbound VC joined the round, which was led by Signal Peak Ventures of the United States.

According to a senior corporate executive, the funds would be utilised for growth, platform advancements, growing platform infrastructure, and tech upgrades. CometChat raised $1.6 million in pre-series A financing last year.

CometChat, which was founded in 2010 by brothers Anuj and Anant Garg, offers businesses plug-and-play text, chat, video, and audio communications solutions that can be linked into their websites and apps. CometChat's in-app communication platform is a scalable, secure, and simple-to-use solution that helps your growing business drive significant user-to-user engagement.

Among the clients of the Denver and Mumbai-based firm are HeySummit, Swedbank, Endeavor, and The Times Group.

CometChat's founders and CEO, Anuj Garg, claims that the company already offers one million concurrent connections to its consumers. “We plan to scale that to 10 million concurrent connections in the next 12 months.”

He says that the Covid-19 pandemic has hastened digital transformation in organisations, with virtual interactions becoming the norm. “We saw an exponential growth in the last 18 months and we continue to grow incredibly well.”

The company is currently looking to expand its leadership team globally and invest in sales and marketing in order to enter new markets such as Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia. This is in addition to the company's current demand from the United States, India, and Asia-Pacific (Apac).

Chat application programming interfaces (APIs), software development kits (SDKs), and open-source UI (user interface) kits and widgets are among CometChat's services. Its platform is used by over 50,000 developers.
