Software-as-a-service (SaaS) company Crest, based in Bangalore, has raised $800,000 (about Rs. 6.6 crore) in pre-seed funding, which was co-led by Indian Angel Network and Inflection Point Ventures. The investment round was also attended by Faad network and a number of angel investors, including Sahil Barua and Kapil Bharati (Delhivery), Saahil Goel, Gautam Kapoor, Vishesh Khurana, and Akshay Ghulati (Shiprocket), among others.

Crest is an AI-powered supply chain platform that offers direct-to-customer (D2C) and small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) solutions for demand forecasting, inventory planning, and more. It was founded by Rahul Vishwakarma, Akhil Kumar, and Yogesh Byahatti in 2022. In order to avoid running out of stock and fulfil every request, it aids D2C brands in streamlining their supply chain through inventory planning and replenishment planning.

The Bengaluru-based business employs artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques to estimate demand, automate buy planning, and plan distribution, according to Crest co-founder Rahul Vishwakarma, who was speaking about the development.

Early-stage venture capital company Indian Angel Network, which has invested Rs 900 crore in more than 200 firms across industries like SaaS, direct-to-consumer (D2C), and fintech, among others, co-led the funding round. With an average ticket value of between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 50 crore, IAN invested $10 million (about Rs 85 crore) in 52 companies last year.

In the meanwhile, the SaaS industry has experienced significant investment activity despite the financial cold. Recently, ChronicleHQ Inc., which runs the SaaS presentation platform Chronicle, raised $7.5 million in seed funding (around Rs 62.09 crore).

GetWork, a SaaS company, recently raised $846,340 in pre-Series A fundraising from Samarthya Investment Advisers and Artha Venture Fund. Additionally, Sequoia Capital India's accelerator Surge helped Hatica raise seed capital of $3.7 million (Rs 30.56 crore).
