D2C Tea Startup Vahdam Raises INR 174 Cr In Series D Funding Round

Vahdam India, a Delhi based tea brand has raised Rs 174 crore as a part of a Series D round led by IIFL AMC’s private equity fund. Among the existing investors, a consortium of Sixth Sense Venture affiliates, the Mankind Group family office, Infosys founder Kris Gopalkrishnan’s family office, Urmin Group and White Whale Ventures participated in the funding round.

The total funds raised after the latest funding round stands at Rs 290 crore. The company’s valuation stands at about Rs. 700 crore. The fresh funding will be used to increase online and offline penetration, enter new geographics and develop new product categories.

“With the current fundraising, we plan to continue deepening our distribution in key markets, both online and offline. We will also look at entering new categories, new markets, invest heavily in R & D, and further strengthen our management team,” said Bala Sarda, Founder of Vahdam India.

Vahdam was founded in 2015 in New Delhi by Bala Sarda. It obtains tea directly from plantations and then manufactures in-house. The startup operates in the wellness space with matcha, turmeric and immunity-boosting teas.

The startup has crossed Rs 160 crore in net revenue for FY21 from Rs 75 crore in FY20. It is also expanding 110 per cent year on year. The tea brand is targeting Rs 500 crore in revenue in the next three years.
