Edtech Startup Adda247 raises $20 million led by WestBridge Capital

WestBridge Capital led a $20 million fundraising round for Adda247, an edtech startup that offers courses for obtaining jobs in public sector banks, government organisations, and Indian Railways.

Info Edge (India) Ltd., Asha Impact, and JM Financial were among the existing investors who took part in the financing. According to a statement released on Tuesday, the extra capital would be used to strengthen the company's technology as well as to hire top executives. It's also looking into possible acquisitions to supplement its current products.

Adda247, which was founded in 2010 by Anil Nagar and Saurabh Bansal, provides live video lectures, on-demand video courses, mock tests, and books for government exams. The firm, which is situated in New Delhi, claims to have 15 million monthly active users.

The following are some of the company's flagship products: 1. Adda 247 Mobile App: In terms of usage, this is India's second most popular educational Android app. 2. Bankersadda.com: Bankersadda.com is India's most popular educational website, with over 20 million members. 3. SSCAdda.com: It's a website dedicated to the Staff Selection Commission's exams for numerous central government jobs.
4. TeachersAdda.co.in: This is a popular website that focuses on Teacher Eligibility Tests that are held in India for various teaching positions in government schools. 5. Adda 247 Youtube Channel: One of India's most popular educational channels, Adda 247 features videos on current events, government job openings, subject learning, motivational movies, and live game shows.

“India, at present, has more than 50 crore learners, which makes the educational market enormous and open for diverse requirements,” CEO Nagar said. “We will be using the latest round of funds to improve the learning outcomes on our platform and give our users a superior learning experience.”
Adda247 primarily caters to students outside of major cities, offering classes in regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and Odia. It has lately entered the K12 market, focusing on state board students in Tier II and Tier III communities.
