Nalanda Learning Systems, an edtech startup has raised Rs 40 crore from Aavishkaar Capital to expand its operations nationally.

Nalanda's comprehensive digital platform includes engaging digital content, live classes, and interactive games, allowing early learners to develop critical literacy and cognitive skills while also expanding imagination, promoting creativity, and fostering engagement.

The startup owns the 'Little Laureates' brand, which it uses to run pre-schools in eastern India.

“While the entire education sector has encountered significant headwinds on account of the pandemic, Nalanda continues to move forward and has developed the next generation learning solutions for kids at the foundation learning age. Our integrated digital learning solutions are extremely engaging and children can easily adapt to the new way of learning,” Nalanda Learning Systems Chief Executive Officer Tamal Mukherjee said.

"We have raised Rs 40 crore from Aavishkaar Capital to fund our drive to expand nationally using digital content," said Tamal Mukherjee.
"The pandemic has reshaped the education market. While it has accelerated the adoption of education technologies, the benefits have been limited to a small section of the society," he added.

According to Mukherjee, Nalanda intends to not only ensure long-term learning and development outcomes for children, but also to revitalise and upskill the pre-schooling industry, as well as to provide comprehensive, contemporary, and early learning programmes.

"We are extremely excited to continue partnering with Nalanda as it expands its high-quality pedagogy across India through its digital platform," Ajay Maniar, partner at Aavishkaar Capital, said.

"The Nalanda team has shown great dexterity in reimagining the pre-schooling business and have been able to translate their high-quality pedagogy into a highly impactful business proposition for pre-school owners, teachers and parents," he said.

Little Laureates is one of the most well-known pre-school "brands" of Nalanda Learning Systems Ltd. Little Laureates advanced learning management, which has over 2000 students from all over India, focuses on interactive learning through live classroom teaching, videos, games, whiteboard, and much more.

Maniar added that the National Education Policy has recognised the importance of foundational learning for children and has ushered in a new era for preschools, and Nalanda is well-positioned to capitalise on this.
