EV Charging platform Relux secures Rs.250 to expand their footprints In South India
A popular brand and key player in providing electric charging infrastructure, Relux has raised Rs.250 crore from the private real estate and infrastructure investors to expand their vast network across the states of South India. They have raised the fund targeting to develop the infrastructure of hypercharging stations near the highways to magnify the region’s EV support infrastructure and to encourage more people to invest on EVs.
The funding round was led by a group of private investors who are based in Real estate and infrastructure and they are committed on a revenue sharing basis. The deal was signed without taking into account any equity dilution. This will allow the startup to have the full ownership and control of its assets.
The freshly injected capital of Rs. 250 crore will be used over the next eight months to establish 20 new hypercharging stations across key highways in South India. These stations will be strategically located along busy routes such as NH 44, NH 45, and NH 556, covering areas from 1 to 1.5 acres each.
The Managing Director and CEO of Relux Electric, Karthikeyan Santharam, stressed on the importance of increasing more efficient and rapid charging stations for various vehicles, including small—to medium-sized cars, high-end cars, buses, and trucks.
Instead of providing mere charging options, the depots will offer a wide range of amenities to enhance the user experience. All the stations will include eateries and shopping centres, catering to travellers' needs while their vehicles charge. All the charging stations will be designed to support rapid charging, with three-wheelers taking as little as 10 minutes and four-wheelers 18 minutes to charge fully, showcasing Relux’s commitment to convenience and efficiency.
The company is aiming not only to increase the number of charging stations but also maximize their utilization. Karthikeyan Santharam mentioned that, the company’s in-house R&D and original design equipment for charging stations contribute to minimal downtime and efficient operations.
As part of their futuristic agendas, they want to launch fleet operators and commercial EV owners, and it will help them to install AC charging stations in collaboration with residential and commercial complexes, fleet operators, and travel agencies. The startup will also attract more funding in future to execute their plans with a focus to South Indian states of India, while also expanding its footprints in eastern and western regions.
