PushOwl, a digital marketing platform for ecommerce companies that allows them to send push alerts, has been acquired by Sendinblue, a Paris-based company, as its ecommerce arm in India.

The French SaaS business also bought Chatra and Metrilo, two additional ecommerce marketing companies, for a total of more than $47 million, but PushOwl took up the lion's share of the money. Shashank Kumar, the founder of PushOwl, will continue to oversee the company and join the Sendinblue executive team as vice president of product.

PushOwl is a platform enabling e-commerce stores to receive push notifications. Currently concentrating on Shopify-based e-commerce stores. Abandoned cart recovery, shipment alerts, back in stock, price drop, and other features are all embedded into the platform. PushOwl can also be connected to third-party apps to expand the use of push notifications.

“Acquiring PushOwl, Metrilo, Chatra are part of Sendinblue’s longer term vision to expand our marketing capabilities and dive into the growing e-commerce space,” Sendinblue CEO Armand Thiberge said. “Now, our all-in-one digital marketing solution will become even more powerful, enabling these businesses to expedite sales & drive strategic business decisions.”

The purchases follow Sendinblue's $160 million Series B fundraising round, which was used to expand product offerings and accelerate growth in the North American market. Culture Kings, Sugar Cosmetics, Lange Beauty, and Vital Proteins are just a handful of the e-commerce firms that PushOwl works with.

“Sendinblue is a leader in marketing automation and with this acquisition, we’ll be able to combine forces to elevate ecommerce marketing and create a product that customers really love, adds value, and ultimately, simplifies omnichannel marketing”, Kumar said. “This would be a game-changer for merchants.”
