  • Go1 co-founders raise $2.5 Million seed funding to launch Australia’s first national whole-body MRI service.
  • Scans detect 500+ conditions, complement existing diagnostics, and include pre- and post-scan clinician consultations.
  • Operates in 6 Australian cities, using underutilised MRI machines, with plans to expand across the Asia Pacific region.

The Co-founders of edtech unicorn Go1 are turning their attention to healthcare with the launch of OneMRI, Australia’s first national provider of whole-body MRI scans. The startup has raised $2.5 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round, backed by OIF Ventures, Antler, and several other venture capitalists, as well as clinicians and radiologists.

OneMRI was founded in 2024 by Dr Vu Tran and Andrew Barnes, who previously built Go1, together with entrepreneur Gopi Sara. The platform aims to make preventive health more accessible by providing comprehensive, radiation-free whole-body MRI scans that can detect over 500 conditions, including cancers, metabolic disorders, autoimmune conditions, spinal degeneration, and brain aneurysms.

Dr Tran, who is also a practicing GP, said OneMRI has the potential to transform preventive care in Australia. “Wellness and preventive health are only going to grow as sectors – and technology will play a critical role in that evolution", he said. “Individuals increasingly want autonomy and access to answers. Whole-body MRI scans offer a safe, multi-system snapshot in a single investigation”.

The service is designed to complement existing diagnostic tests, not replace them. Several Australians have already identified serious health conditions through OneMRI’s scans. The platform emphasizes clinical rigour and patient care, with a strict eligibility and informed consent framework. Each appointment includes a pre- and post-scan consultation with qualified clinicians and dedicated care coordinators to ensure patients fully understand the process, results, and possible next steps, according to CEO Gopi Sara.

OneMRI is leveraging underutilised radiology clinics across Australia, where over 100 MRI machines currently operate at around 30% capacity. This approach allows the startup to scale access without straining healthcare resources. Currently, OneMRI operates in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth, Sydney, Newcastle, and Melbourne, with plans to expand across the Asia Pacific region.

The launch of OneMRI follows the co-founders’ success with Go1, which achieved unicorn status in 2021 after a $272 million Series D round and is now valued at more than $2.8 billion. Their proven track record in building high-growth companies has helped attract strong early-stage investor interest for the new venture.

With its patient-centric approach, cutting-edge MRI technology, and focus on preventive care, OneMRI is positioning itself as a pioneering force in Australia’s healthcare landscape, offering individuals a safe and proactive way to monitor their health.
