Bhanzu, an Indian edtech firm, has raised $2 million in a seed fundraising round headed by Lightspeed, according to the sources.

Angel investors and Indian startup entrepreneurs took part in the round, including Uni chief executive Nitin Gupta, Cred founder Kunal Shah, former Helion managing director Ashish Gupta, and Unacademy founder Gaurav Munjal, among others.

According to the release, the funds will be used to expand Bhanzu's live lessons across various countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East, as well as expedite hiring across its tech and product teams.

Bhanzu, which was founded in 2020, provides a math learning curriculum."Bhanzu has already aided tens of thousands of pupils in realising their full potential." "We are on our way to achieving the same on a worldwide scale," said Neelakantha Bhanu, Bhanzu's founder and CEO.

The organisation claims to have clocked over a million teaching hours over a student base of over 30,000 since its launch.

"We are very excited to partner with Bhanzu in his mission to revolutionise math education. We have been awed by his journey from being a math enthusiast and educator to an entrepreneur and are proud backers of his vision to rethink how kids across the globe learn math," said Shuvi Srivastava, vice president, Lightspeed.

In India, Lightspeed has invested in edtech powerhouse Byju's, skill-based course provider Frontrow, and learning management system Teachmint.

Lead School, the sixth Indian edtech unicorn, raised $100 million in a new round led by GSV Ventures and WestBridge Capital earlier this year, valuing it at $1.1 billion.

Neelakantha Bhanu broke four world records and 50 Limca Book records by the age of 17 to become the World's Fastest Human Calculator. Bhanu's mind processes numbers at a rate of 12 numbers per second on average, roughly 10-times faster than the normal brain, according to some of his attempts. Bhanu was unstoppable, and he went above and beyond the boundaries of global fame to fully realise his extraordinary powers.
