KathaVersse Media Network Raises $400K in Seed Funding to Expand Content Business
KathaVersse Media Network, has successfully raised $400,000 in seed funding. The funding round was spearheaded by Roshan Abbas, with participation from notable investors, including Gaurav Kapur, Samit Garg, Dhawal Gusain, Rajesh Rege, Sujit Jha, Nitin Madan, and WLDD.
KathaVersse is focused on expanding its content business by diversifying its video intellectual properties (IPs) into various formats, including audio, animation, merchandise, and more. Co-Founded by Aakash Kumar as CEO and Kshitiz Sudhakar as COO, KathaVersse is committed to creating entertainment IPs with a long shelf life, spanning a minimum of seven years, aimed at tier 2 and tier 3 audiences.
Both founders bring over seven years of experience in digital-first filmmaking and have a track record of creating successful IPs and business verticals for India’s leading digital entertainment companies, backed by profitable PnL. They have previously produced IPs that collectively garnered over 1.5 billion views on social media platforms and collaborated with more than 100 advertisers. Their content is featured on platforms such as Sony Liv, Jio Cinema, Disney+hotstar, Zee5, and YouTube. KathaVersse adopts a content-first approach and is actively developing AVOD and SVOD verticals for both fiction and nonfiction content.
Under their fiction brand, Antenna Studios, the company plans to release an original long-form content slate encompassing commissioned and self-produced projects. Additionally, they will launch their studio’s YouTube channel for premium fiction web shows by March 2024, thereby expanding their social distribution network.
On the non-fiction front, KathaVersse is introducing six IPs through their existing brand, Digital Commentary, which boasts 106,000 subscribers. Digital Commentary aims to inspire, entertain, and educate its audience, serving as a comprehensive source of infotainment in the entertainment sphere.
