Live-video Infrastructure Platform 100ms raises USD4.5 million from Accel and others in seed funding
Live-video infrastructure platform 100ms has gained $4.5 million in a seed funding round led by Accel. Strive.vc. also participated in the funding round.
According to a statement, the capital raised will be used to build the engineering team and for product enhancement.
“Being a video engineer all my life, I understand the complexity of adding live video at scale. For a long time, this infrastructure has only been available to very few developers,” said Kshitij Gupta, co founder and chief executive of the company.
“We started 100ms to build live video infrastructure for the world. Our SDKs (software development kits) are supported on all platforms-including iOS/Android/web-and are equipped to build high-quality video along with all the edge cases in just a few lines of code.”
Bengaluru based 100ms was founded by Kshitij Gupta, Aniket Behera and Sarvesh Dwivedi. It provides infrastructure, allowing a company to add Zoom-like video conferencing inside their app. Paytm Insider, BookMyShow, Townscript and Circle are some of its clients.
100ms aims to scale its 35 members to 75 by April-June 2022. Moreover, it will also open its offices in Seattle and San Francisco.
The market for live audio and video infrastructure services was lifted by the pandemic. The rapid growth is being driven by enterprises across industries who are unbundling Zoom, it said.
“We believe all apps in the future will have video and audio embedded in them,” Accel partner Abhinav Chaturvedi said. “100ms is the best team to create the best in class developer product to enable this.”
“An open extendable platform, built by experts in audio/video streaming, and supported by a budding engaged community instantly convinced us that the 100ms team is building a global-leading dev infra company,” Strive.vc partner Nikhil Kapur said.
