Fertility-tech startup Luma Fertility has raised $4 million in seed funding to transform the fertility care experience in India. The round was led by Peak XV’s Surge and saw participation from Ameera Shah, promoter of Metropolis Healthcare, and Vijay Taparia of B2V Ventures.
Founded by Neha K. Motwani, a serial entrepreneur known for scaling fitness platform Fitternity (acquired by Cult.fit), Luma Fertility aims to bring transparency, empathy, and digital innovation to a space long regarded as complex and emotionally taxing.
With India’s fertility rate declining below the replacement level (1.9 vs. 2.1) and IVF cycles expected to grow from 320,000 in 2024 to 550,000 by 2028, the market is primed for innovation. Luma Fertility’s approach includes comprehensive services such as IVF, egg and embryo freezing, fertility assessments, and pre-conception care all underpinned by a tech-first platform.
At the heart of Luma’s offering is its IVF companion app, which provides real-time reports, journey tracking, and LumaAI, a 24/7 virtual assistant guiding patients through medications and fertility cycles. The platform also includes at-home semen testing, acupuncture, nutrition coaching, and IV therapy, combining clinical care with holistic wellness.
Luma’s flagship 6,000 sq ft clinic in Bandra, Mumbai, features an open lab design and assigns a dedicated care team to every patientfostering trust and transparency in an industry that often lacks both.
“We’re not just another IVF clinic”, said Motwani. “We’re building a platform that supports individuals and couples at every step anchored in compassion, science, and digital ease”.
The newly raised capital will help Luma expand across Mumbai and launch in new cities over the next two years, with a focus on egg and embryo freezing, a growing trend among millennials and Gen Z delaying parenthood.
With its unique blend of technology, trust, and patient-first design, Luma Fertility is redefining the future of fertility care in India.
