Motive Raises $150Million to Expand AI Fleet Platform, Launches in UK

Artificial intelligence-driven fleet operations platform Motive secured $150 million in capital to advance its technology and grow globally, with a special emphasis on the UK transportation and logistics industry. Motive plans to transform the physical global economythat is, transportation, logistics, construction, and energyby supplanting analog, manual systems with its Artificial Intelligence-powered Integrated Operations Platform.

With this additional investment, Motive aims to enhance its AI capabilities, expand into new markets, and assist frontline teams operating across physical industries. According to the firm, clients that use its platform have reported up to 80% fewer accidents, 30% reduced costs from incidents, and 21% insurance premium reductions.

With the UK experiencing growing pressures on logisticssuch as a deficit of approximately 200,000 heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers, rising operational expenses, and growing expectations on sustainabilityMotive's AI solutions are being touted as an innovation desperately needed.

Shoaib Makani, Motive co-founder and CEO, explained that the company was formed with the mission of providing frontline workers with innovative tools. "We believe in empowering those who keep the world in motion to work smarter, safer, and more sustainably," Makani explained. His backgroundfrom being a Pakistani-American immigrant growing up in Texas to working at Google and Khosla Ventures, and then talking to truck drivers on California highways one-on-oneled him to found Motive in 2013.

Today, Motive provides its services to close to 100,000 businesses and 1.3 million drivers, generating close to $500 million in annual recurring revenue. Motive has positioned itself as a category leader by training its AI models on billions of miles of actual driving data. Its systems have up to 99% accuracy, performing better than its competitors in detecting dangerous behavior and automating operations.

Makani added,
