Pune-based photonics and defense startup Olee.space has raised $3 million from a seed funding round led by Rockstud Capital, with the support of international investors.
The investment will help scale up manufacturing, increase quantum-secure communication protocols, and quicken the defense tech roadmap of the company.
Established in 2023 by James Solomon and Suman Hiremath, Olee.space creates innovative solutions in Free-Space Optical Communication (FSOC), quantum-encrypted networking, and directed energy weapons (DEWs). Its FSOC solutions employ low-power infrared laser beams to provide ultra-fast, secure data links over land, air, sea, and space with low latency, high security, and throughput optimized.
James Solomon, Olee.space Founder and CEO mentioned, I have always been intrigued by how lasers work. Keeping light as my work brings me joy, and I intend to do full justice to this field as my capable team members. What we perform here is fruitful to the country, and we will keep doing it.
The company is additionally developing a DEW platform for anti-UAV/drone and anti-satellite missions, facilitating accurate tracking, real-time targeting, and neutralization of aerial targets.
