Plenome Technologies, a blockchain-based data management startup incubated at IIT Madras, has secured Rs 6.5 crore in seed funding. The investment comes from Luxembourg-based Ovington Capital Partners, UAE-based AADI, and veteran investor Manish Gandhi.

Founded by IIT Madras professor and serial entrepreneur Prabhu Rajagopal, alongside Vijayaraja Rathinasamy and Anirudh Varna, Plenome is focused on developing blockchain-powered solutions that prioritize user privacy and secure recordkeeping. Initially, the startup will concentrate on healthcare data, targeting international markets in the US, UK, and UAE, where robust data protection regulations are already in place.

“Enterprises are now placing increased importance on data security and cybersecurity, especially after high-profile breaches. The rise of AI introduces new challenges like data poisoning”, said Rajagopal, in a statement to The Times of India.

Plenome is currently piloting its AI-SaaS platform designed for electronic data capture and structured record generation, with a focus on the dental sector. It plans to collaborate directly with hospitals and clinics as well as healthcare software platforms.

The startup’s technology is built on a patented blockchain architecture and emerges from IIT-M’s research group on automation and data engineering. It is also developing a distributed AI protocol, enabling multiple agents to collaboratively address complex problems paving the way for secure, intelligent healthcare data systems.
