Shiprocket acquires Arvind Retail's Omuni in Rs 200 crore cash-and-stock deal

Temasek and Zomato-backed logistics aggregator Shiprocket said that it has acquired Arvind Retail’s omni-channel technology business Omuni in a Rs 200 crore cash-and-stock deal. The transaction will enable faster deliveries of shipments from the nearest store or warehouse, reducing delivery timelines and enhancing customer experience, Shiprocket said.
This marks another attempt by Shiprocket to double down on its direct-to-consumer (D2C) shipping business. Last month, it announced the acquisition of Pickrr, in a $200 million deal, triggering a significant consolidation in the industry.
The development comes at a time when third-party logistics companies like Delhivery and Xpressbees have also forayed into the D2C commerce space promising delivery within a day or two. Typically, D2C brands struggle to deliver goods faster on their own. Shiprocket said that the deal will ensure better inventory utilisation, faster delivery, and optimise operational costs.
“Omuni’s SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) products will allow us to unify inventory, order, catalouge, content, pricing, and data across physical and digital storefronts for the best possible ecommerce experience for customers. Together, we aim to redefine e-commerce logistics through omnichannel retail enablement,” said Saahil Goel, cofounder and CEO of Shiprocket.
Kulin Lalbhai, executive director of Arvind, said by combining its retail stack with the Shiprocket ecosystem, they will be able to make the extensive inventory of retail stores available to be sold seamlessly. “The coming together of these two product stacks will create a lot of value.”
