Team Startup CityThe world is stepping forward in bridging the gap between gender bias in organizations. This is one of the biggest steps taken towards lifting the status of women who were considered as physically as well as psychologically inferior to their counterparts and were subjected to many social and religious stigmas. Over the years, society has witnessed a sudden upsurge in women entrepreneurship. They have actively indulged themselves in the socio-economic, commerce and trade realms, proving the nation that they are capable of leading organizations.

With all these changes in society, the
government is also addressing the problems in the development of women entrepreneurship and helping them resolve issues such as access to funding, market availability, and business skills among others. It is implementing several schemes for the growth of women.

Inc42 reported Rajkumar Singh, the Minister of State for skill & Development stating “schemes such as Startup India, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Udyam Sakhi Portal, among others have been launched by the government to bolster women entrepreneurship in India.”

He further added, “The skill development ministry is running a pilot project named ‘Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs and Startups by Women’ in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a Germany-based development authority.”

The plan is targeting to support 250 startups led by women entrepreneurs. It is also aiming to assist 100 women started companies. The project is focussing on programmes for women micro-entrepreneurs to start new businesses and scale up existing enterprises. As of now, the project has been implemented in Assam, Rajasthan and Telangana.
