Tonbo Imaging Secures $175 Crore in Pre-IPO Funding Round

Tonbo Imaging from Bengaluru acquired ₹175 crore in Series D pre-IPO funding from Florintree Advisors together with Tenacity Ventures and the Export-Import Bank of India. The funding will be utilized by the company to expedite development of infrared sensors for the next generation and deploy HPM technology to combat modern battlefield threats and expand internationally through increased working capital.
Our company will use this investment to develop innovative infrared imaging technologies and directed energy solutions while growing our international business operations according to Lakshmikumar.
Tonbo applies technology from optics and AI and computer vision to develop battle-ready surveillance systems and targeting platforms which work across land and sea and airborne environments. Modern combat scenarios demand real-time situational awareness and precision targeting and autonomous decision-making capabilities which these systems deliver to military forces.
According to Lakshmikumar the main objective of Tonbo was to make high-end defense technologies accessible to everyone. Modern battlefield requirements for agile autonomous reconnaissance and targeting systems rely on three fundamental technologies which are enhanced sensors and low-power computer vision and unconventional munitions.
The operational systems at Tonbo are active in more than 30 countries where they serve multiple organizations ranging from the Indian Ministry of Defense to Israeli Defense Forces to NATO and US Navy SEALs. The company provides integrative solutions that work with tanks and drones as well as naval vessels and guided munitions platforms.
The startup has previously obtained funds exceeding ₹300 crore from financing events led by Artiman Ventures together with Qualcomm Ventures and Celesta Capital coupled with Edelweiss and HBL Engineering.
Mathew Cyriac, Founder of Florintree Capital described Tonbo Imaging as a company which symbolizes the upcoming era of defense technology. The company maintains a strong position to address present and future worldwide security issues through its deep experience in imaging technology alongside AI capabilities and autonomous systems.
Rohit Razdan from Tenacity Ventures stated that Tonbo's combination of software and hardware functions at a global standard. Tonbo will establish itself as a major global leader based in India throughout the following years.
