Deeptech robotics startup Unibose Technology has raised Rs 5.5 crore in a pre-Series A funding round to expand its groundbreaking robotic solutions for hazardous, explosive, and confined industrial environments. The round was led by O2 Angels, with additional investments from IN44 Capital, Coimbatore Innovation and Business Incubator, and other strategic angel investors. The startup had earlier secured Rs 2.5 crore in seed funding from StartupTN.

Founded by Manikandan Dakshinamoorthy, Samayaraj Durairaj, Sakthivel Panneerselvam, and Venkatesh Sundaramurthy, Unibose has developed Asia's first and the world’s third ATEX Zone-0 compliant robot. This robot is capable of operating safely inside live petroleum, chemical, and gas tanks environments previously deemed too hazardous for human entry due to explosive gases, zero-oxygen conditions, and toxic residues.

What sets Unibose apart is its fully integrated Zone-0 certified robotic and vision system, including custom-built lighting and camera solutions designed for extreme conditions. This end-to-end innovation positions Unibose as the only company in Asia offering such a complete solution for confined space operations.

Operating under a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, Unibose enables industries to deploy life-saving automation without significant upfront capital, targeting critical sectors like oil & gas, fertilizers, chemicals, and heavy industries.

“We backed Unibose for their unmatched technical depth and the scalability of their robotics platform,” said Rajesh Ranjan, Co-Founder, O2 Angels. Sathish Ganesan of IN44 Capital added, “Their certified robots are market-ready, and we are excited to support their global expansion”.

CEO Manikandan Dakshinamoorthy called their flagship product, the NMER Robot, a 'safety revolution', emphasizing the company’s commitment to solving global industrial safety issues. With fresh funding, Unibose aims to scale operations across India, the GCC, and Southeast Asia, while advancing its AI-based inspection and compliance tools and strengthening its OEM and partner ecosystem.
