Unirec, a sustainable fashion brand, revealed that it has secured Rs 1.5 crore ($190,000) from BeyondSeed, a well-known seed fund based in Singapore, in its latest seed funding round. The Mumbai-headquartered company highlighted that this investment will play a significant role in facilitating their market expansion efforts, advancing research initiatives, and innovating in the development of sustainable fabrics.

Kapil Bhatia, Founder & CEO of Unirec, emphasized, "Our primary aim is swift expansion, both in the online and offline spheres. This funding round propels us toward our immediate goal of manufacturing and selling 25,000 garments monthly". Over the past 18 months, Unirec has successfully crafted 40,000 garments, with more than 25,000 of these derived from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. The brand's innovative approach involves transforming ten plastic bottles into a single garment, offering a diverse range of men's and women's fashion wear.

Kuldeep Mirani, Co-Founder and CEO of BeyondSeed, conveyed excitement about the partnership, stating, "This strategic alliance between Unirec and BeyondSeed demonstrates a dedication to transforming the global issue of plastic waste into an opportunity. We are thrilled to support not just an exceptional concept but also an exceptionally skilled and dedicated team with a vision to address a significant global concern".
