Video telematic startup LightMetrics raises $8.5 million from Sequoia Capital India
LightMetrics, a video telematics firm that works with fleets of commercial vehicles all around the world, revealed that Sequoia Capital India had contributed $8.5 million to its Series A fundraising round. LightMetrics' goal in this fundraising effort is to bolster a number of teams, including engineering, customer success, product, marketing, sales, and analytics.
The business will keep investing in AI technologies, fresh goods, and solutions to bolster its product line and give fleets more benefit across all of its activities. The money generated will also be used to investigate related possibilities, such as auto insurance.
In order to better understand driver behaviour, decrease accidents, and enhance safety, LightMetrics, a company founded in 2015 by Soumik Ukil, Ravi Shenoy, Mithun Uliyar, Gururaj Putraya, Pushkar Patwardhan, and Krishna A.G., uses edge AI and analyses video feeds from the camera installed in vehicles.
"The telematics industry's fastest-growing subsegment is video telematics. Lightmetrics can service all vehicle types in this substantial industry because to its ability to deploy cutting-edge computer vision models on the edge, spanning a variety of dash cameras. We anticipate that advances in artificial intelligence will alter a number of industries at Sequoia Capital India, and we're thrilled to collaborate with Lightmetrics on their mission to increase road safety, said Ashish Agrawal, MD of Sequoia India.
