In today's context, women are increasingly entering various traditionally male-dominated fields. From the military to law enforcement, and truck driving to the coal mines, women show their productivity and capabilities in diverse workplace settings where they remain the statistical minority.

Looking at the progress level of women, though within a culture there is a significant gender disparity, women did, women are, and women will always survive and thrive confidently. Above all, there are a few ifs and buts and barriers that need to be addressed majorly to erase marginalization. Research explains women working in male-dominated workplace environments may experience marginalization, which can adversely affect both well-being and career prospects.

According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Report 2021, women have contributed 17% to India’s GDP which is less than half the global average. When it comes to women's entrepreneurship, India ranks 57th out of 65 countries,

As the gender-based hurdles are still getting multiplied in today’s business industry, women’s underrepresentation in high-paying occupations is multifaceted, and due to race, sexual orientation, a disability, or other aspects of their identity, thus, women should have access to good-quality jobs. Further, to eradicate this gender inequality, it is important to increase the number of women entering the Indian workforce, both by starting new businesses and employing women in them, increasing overall productivity and welfare.

However, decades of studies have proved that women leaders help increase productivity, enhance collaboration, inspire organizational dedication, and improve fairness. The research, published by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), was carried out by Pinelopi K. Goldberg, Elihu Professor of Economics at Yale University and former World Bank Chief Economist, and Gaurav Chiplunkar, Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. The author’s research reveals that if gender-based distortions and inequalities are removed from the market then women entrepreneurs would significantly add to economic growth as they create more jobs for women.

Women should continue to be strong, resilient, bold, respected, and successful for a long period with a beacon of hope paving the way for a new era of innovation where women play a central role in shaping the nation’s economic destiny


With such positive benefits, a study has declared that only 10% of Fortune 500 companies are led by women. When women can prove to be the best in a male-dominated world, what you can do to decline gender-based distortions and inequalities?

If the organization supports women in leadership positions, it will play the primary factor in boosting women’s rise to major roles, along with uplifting women’s desire to be the best version of themselves. A few ways that organizations can support women’s rise to various valuable positions include-

By creating pathways for women and helping them enter & stay in male-dominated occupations.

Women should slowly rise in political leadership, corporate, and educational leadership.

It is time for women leaders to be at the head of the table in leadership roles having a bright future that moves forward together.

Enabling potential leadership candidates to obtain a wealth of feedback at an early point in their careers through assignments, mentoring, and coaching. This may allow them to develop their networks and demonstrate their ability to take on greater responsibilities.

Giving women key experiences early in their careers helps them immensely. It gives them the runway to develop themselves by excelling and reaching as far as their skills, abilities, and motivation will take them.

Establish mentorship programs that also focus on sponsorship. Many studies have explained the benefits of successful mentoring programs, including greater career success for individuals, higher levels of employee engagement, retention, and knowledge-sharing for organizations.

Women-led associations guide honing leadership abilities, networking with other women, working directly with and observing women leaders, and receiving support from others to take on leadership roles.

There is a need for increased aspirations, more confidence in their skills and leadership qualities, and a more expansive view of leadership, individualism, and entrepreneurship within their careers.

Initiation from male executives trained on how to be allies should likely speak up about incidents of gender inequality than men who are not trained in this approach, and encourage women to flourish and withstand the test of time.

Organizations should encourage by including professional development funds in their budgets to increase the ability of women employees to take part in various roles and groups.

Women should identify one's potential and stand firm with it, even if the world pushes them away with negative criticism. It is all about recognizing our worth, value, and privileges by analyzing and working through biases and hurdles that we all have as humans, and then leveraging those experiences as the privilege to either step up or step back or step in and help oneself and those who have historically been left behind when it comes to advancing into all types of business-oriented roles. 10 years ago, women were discriminated against, today we are appreciated and discouraged, you never know what the upcoming years have for us to witness. Nevertheless, every woman needs to lift herself and have the perspective of seeing what happens when you give people key experiences and forums to learn from those experiences. They will surely be able to make the strides they need, coupled with an attitude toward inclusion and success.
