There will always be destinations to cover and hence, there will always be companies to consult with when time comes to pack bags and leave.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) estimated that the global tourism industry has generated $7.6 Trillion for the global GDP back in 2014 thus making it one of the fastest growing and largest sectors. At the heart of this development is the growing acceptance of digital technology and its counterparts which have facilitated the transformation of this industry from the roots.

The Indian Scenario

The travel & tourism industry of India has established its name among the key sectors of growth in terms of providing services. Worth mentioning that tourism in India is bound to grow owing to its rich cultural and historical heritage, variety in ecology, terrains and places with natural beauty spread all across the country. Employment generation in this industry also shows a lot of potential besides from being one of the distinguished sources of foreign for the country. During the months of January-October 2018, the increment of FEEs from the tourism sector was estimated to be 8.3 percent YOY.

Size of the Market

India stands among one of the most digitally
advanced nations with respect to digital tools used for planning, booking and experiencing a journey.The rising income of the middle class and greater access to disposable incomes has highly influence to the growth of domestic as well as outbound tourism of the country. The number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) increased to $8.36 Mn by the end of 2018 thus generating a growth rate of 6.20 percent YOY.
8 percent of the total employment opportunities created in the year of 2017 in India were generated from the travel & tourism sector of India which is estimated to grow at a 2 percent every year and create about 52.3 Mn jobs by the year of 2028.

The Government’s say

It seems that the government of the country has finally realised the true potential of the travel & tourism industry and as a result has taken several steps to change it into a tourism hub.
Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as ‘State of Unity’, was inaugurated in October 2018. It is the highest standing statue in the world at a height of 182 metre. It is expected to boost the tourism sector in the country and put India on the world tourism map.The Government of India is striving to gain 1 per cent share in world's international tourist arrivals by 2020 and 2 per cent share by 2025.In the Under Budget 2018-19, the government has allotted Rs 1,250 crore (US$ 183.89 million) for Integrated development of tourist circuits under Swadesh Darshan and Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD).



Expectations for the Future

India’s travel and tourism industry has huge potential to grow and flourish. The tourism industry as a whole is also looking forward to the expansion of E-visa scheme which is expected to double the tourist inflow to India. India's travel and tourism industry has the potential to expand by 2.5 per cent on the back of higher budgetary allocation and low cost healthcare facility, according to a joint study conducted by Assocham and Yes Bank.
