According to Expert Market Research, the Indian organic/natural food market stood at a value of USD 849.5 million in 2020. The market is further expected to grow at a CAGR of about 20.5% to reach a value of about USD 2601 million by 2026. Moreover, the market for organic/ natural products for external applications is also experiencing consis
tent growth owing to the increasing awareness for ayurvedic products. However, the industry for organic/ natural products in India is much unorganized. Indeed there are a few big players but most of the native produce is sold without any government certification which is why they do not reach the prominent vendors and supermarkets. Mesmara from Hyderabad came into being primarily to organize the sales of organic/natural products and cater to each and every part of the country. Starting out with only external use organic/natural products, the company has now gained significant grounds in both the categories and has its own manufacturing capacity as well.

Mesmara manufactures products for skin and hair care and for consumption purposes. It manufactures cold pressed oils and essential oils and edible powders. “We have products for hair fall, fizzy hair, damaged hair or pollution affected hair and for the skin we have products for allergies, inflammations, insect bites and others. Also, we extract almost all kinds of cold pressed oils and suggest our consumers on the category of consumption in accordance to the geography they live in” says Ragini, Co-founder, Mesmara.
Core Philosophy
Mesmara believes that the internal well being reflects in the external wellbeing. India being the birthplace of Ayurveda, there is much to be discovered in terms of categories that have been lost in the process of urbanisation and advancement of modern medicine. One of the co-founders, who is a connoisseur of Ayurveda has taken up the responsibility to explore the lost components and incorporate the knowledge into the product portfolio of Mesmara. “We currently source our raw materials directly from the farmers. For cold pressed oils, we source raw materials from Telangana and for some of our other products we source from different regions of the country like Kashmir, Kerala, Ooty and parts of North India”, mentions Ragini.

Business Excellence
The company started its business with the e-commerce segment. Since beginning, Mesmara products have been listed in the popular e-commerce platforms of the country. The products were very readily accepted by the consumers and subsequently it launched its own e-commerce website as well for experiencing direct sales. The moment it launched the cold pressed oils in the market, all the products were a hit. “We found out that the consumers were already in search for these products and since then, it is only on the grounds of our quality, that we have been getting repeat orders on our products”, states the Co-founder.

Roadmap Ahead
Being first generation entrepreneurs, all three of the co-founders experenced initial hurdles at the start of operations. But as it stands, Mesmara not only has an e-commerce presence, it has also started delivery on personal basis and currently delivers to 60+stores in Hyderabad and Bangalore. “Moving forward, we would like to enter the retail markets in the major cities of the country and we are also aiming at opening branded outlets in near future, with equal focus on exports and overseas placements", concludes Ragini.
