With the vision to change this narrative, Utkarsh Singh and Vikrant Singh laid the foundation of BatX Energies — a company driven by innovation, rooted in sustainability, and determined to make India self-reliant in the new energy era.
What began as a college-lab experiment has evolved into a pioneering enterprise built on curiosity, scientific rigour, and purpose. From researching cell fabrication and recycling methods to extracting valuable minerals from discarded batteries, a student project transformed into BatX Energies in 2020. The Gurugram-based startup today stands as a symbol of innovation, excellence, and national progress, redefining how India approaches circular manufacturing and critical mineral refining.
Technological Prowess & National Relevance
At the heart of BatX Energies lies its proprietary hydrometallurgical and sustainable-mining technology, capable of recovering high-purity lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and rare-earth elements from end-of-life batteries and industrial waste.
The company’s closed-loop “Zero Waste–Zero Emission” model ensures that every atom recovered finds its way back into the production cycle powering the next generation of energy storage systems, defence materials, and semiconductor components.
BatX Energies' operations are supported by a robust six-stage quality-control process from laboratory analysis to material purification ensuring that every product meets battery-grade and semiconductor-grade standards. This technological depth allows BatX Energies to serve high-precision industries where purity, consistency, and reliability are non-negotiable.
“We started BatX Energies to solve a problem — not just to recycle waste, but to create strategic resources for India’s future”, shares Vikrant Singh, Co-Founder & CTO, BatX Energies. “Our goal has always been to turn waste into opportunity and enable India to lead in critical materials for the new energy, defence, and electronics sectors.”
Recent Developments & Strategic Expansion
BatX Energies recently inaugurated its flagship HUB-1 Critical Minerals Refinery in Uttar Pradesh — India’s first integrated plant capable of recycling all lithium-ion chemistries and extracting rare-earths from industrial waste. This facility, powered by automation and advanced process control, marks a major leap in India’s domestic refining capabilities.
The company has also partnered with LW3 to implement blockchain + IoT-enabled battery passports, ensuring traceability and ESG compliance from collection to refined output a first for India’s circular-economy sector.
Globally, BatX Energies has signed strategic collaborations with VinFast India and several European partners to supply recovered materials for new-energy and mobility applications. The company is now eyeing partnerships in the semiconductor and magnet materials value chain, expanding its technology platform from batteries to the broader material-sciences ecosystem.
A Self-Reliant & Sustainable World
With a vision, “To become the world’s leading provider of sustainable and efficient battery recycling and critical-mineral refining solutions, fostering a cleaner, greener, and self-reliant future”; BatX Energies Energies’ roadmap aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat, National Critical Minerals Mission, and Defence Indigenisation Initiatives.
By 2030, the company aims to scale its capacity to 50,000 tons per year, reduce black-mass exports by 90 percent, and establish India’s first integrated clean-tech mineral hub, supporting industries in New Energy, Defence, and Semiconductors.
Through innovation, excellence, and impact, BatX Energies is poised to become the global benchmark in sustainable mineral recovery, shaping not just the future of batteries, but the future of how nations power progress.
