A staggering number of elderly citizens in India are left to fend for themselves, facing overwhelming struggles in their day-to-day lives with no one to turn to for support. Coming across one such incident on a fine summer morning, Manoj Kumar Maity saw an elderly neighbor struggle to drag his grocery bags. The sight hit him like a punch in the gut, leading him to research the situation of the elderly in India.

“I was aghast when I started my research and discovered the huge data on elderly people - 134 million, growing at an exponential rate to hit 340 million by 2050. This was alarming, as 43 percent of those elderly people will be living alone or with only a spouse”, shares Manoj Kumar Maity, Founder. Saurav Bhattacharya and Manoj Maity joined forces as cofounders and acknowledged the lack of healthcare providers for the elderly, as well as the significance of addressing the mental health needs of this demographic.

This revelation led to the birth of Maity’s Positive Living. Founded with a passion to serve, the organization onboarded like-minded members like Blossom Kanjilal, who have been on a journey to make home healthcare and caring services accessible for the elderly.

“After my initial interactions with Manoj Maity, I became aware of the pressing issue of the lack of affordable elderly care services. I was struck by how few providers offered quality care at reasonable prices. Not only were medical emergencies a concern, but I also recognized the dire need for addressing the mental health of our senior citizens. I knew that I couldn't wait for an emergency to occur before addressing these needs”, shares Blossom Kanjilal, Director.

In 2020, Maity's Nestcare Techserv was founded with the belief that a business should strive to make a positive impact on society, rather than simply seeking financial gain.

Distinctive Care Giving is the focus of Maity's services for the elderly who experience loneliness, boredom, anxiety, immobility, and age-related lethargy.
