
Alumna Secures Rs 14.5 Lakh for Sustainable Cocoon Startup

Annam Acharya University alumnus K Sindhuri has been awarded Rs 14.5 lakh under the MSME 4.0 Hackathon Scheme for her innovative idea of creating decorative items and mementos using cocoon waste. The initiative is set to be developed into a startup in collaboration with the university’s Incubation Center.
The project aims to repurpose cocoon waste, an often-discarded byproduct from sericulture, into eco-friendly and artistic products. Sindhuri’s approach not only promotes sustainable entrepreneurship but also provides a creative solution for reducing environmental waste while generating economic opportunities for local communities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof E Sai Baba Reddy congratulated Sindhuri on her achievement, highlighting it as a remarkable example of student innovation with social impact. D Krishna Mohan Raju, Dean of the Incubation Center, emphasized the university’s continued commitment to nurturing student-led innovations that benefit society and encourage entrepreneurial thinking among graduates.
