BAce Capital & Others lead $5 million Fundraising round in Edtech Startup ConveGenius
BAce Capital, Heritas Capital, and 3Lines Venture Capital led a $5 million pre-seed fundraising round for ConveGenius, an edtech startup backed by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation. The Dell Foundation was also a part of the fundraising effort.
ConveGenius.AI will be launched in India and other global markets using the funds raised. The platform intends to grow its products horizontally throughout the WhatsApp ecosystem and other conversational AI-based channels in order to serve more clients across verticals and allow developers to launch their solutions on the platform.
“We believe this is the right time to take the product to millions of children by launching the direct-to-consumer version,” says Prachi Windlass, director at the Dell Foundation.
ConveGenius was founded in April 2013 by Jairaj Bhattacharya and Shashank Pandey with the goal of delivering educational information to children in India's 100 million middle- and low-income homes. With the debut of the AI platform, the company hopes to reach a billion homes around the world. According to the company, there are 14 million monthly active users and 35 million daily interactions.
The startup is dedicated to fostering and exploiting value through the provision of low-cost educational solutions that have a large-scale impact.
Their key competency is developing mobile products, apps, and games for both global and local markets. The company is committed to offering high-quality education to at-risk children by integrating technology into education and collaborating with state governments to reach India's rural and semi-urban areas. It also plans to use retailing and e-tailing channels to reach out to the global urban market with its different world-class high-end educational solutions. ConveGenius' headquarters are in India and Singapore. Their India office is based in New Delhi.
“We are excited to launch ConveGenius AI for democratising digital access to billions of users globally and make knowledge and content accessible with one-click experiences,” says, CEO Bhattacharya.
ConveGenius is well-positioned to address the learning gap created by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Janet Chia, head of venture finance at Heritas Capital. “We are pleased to support ConveGenius in their mission to further scale their impactful solutions, providing greater access to affordable quality education for all.”
