Team Startup CityBalderton Capital, a London-based VC firm has received a fresh $400 million fund. The company offers Series A funding to European tech startups.
Balderton is one of the most active Series A funders in Europe and they have been continuously receiving funds for so long. The company received a fund of $375 million in 2017.

Balderton has also recently set up a ‘secondary fund’
which will be utilized for purchasing stakes from early shareholders in technology companies that are based in Europe. The move has made the secondary share
dealing formalized that is a part of the Series C or other upcoming rounds.

Balderton has said that the recent launch of Series A funding is due to the unprecedented momentum that can be seen in the European tech industry. It further added that the frequency of Series A funding has increased four times since 2012. The total amount of VC investment has soared up from 11.5 Euros in 2014 to 24.6 Euros in 2018.

There are some rumors within the London VC industry that there are firms who were compelled to do follow-on investments in portfolio companies which they would not have done during cooler times. It is due to the fear of signaling to the market not just that a company is not doing well but that the VC firm in itself is not as founder-friendly as existing VCs.

As far as future investments are concerned Balderton will continue to invest all across Europe where companies are using information technology to add value to their service.
