Carbon Masters Secures Funding to Scale Clean Energy & Fertiliser Business

- Carbon Masters raises new equity funding led by SEEAA, Sangam Ventures, and IAN Group.
- Funds to boost biomethane output, fertiliser ops, and team expansion.
- Plans include 5 new SPVs, Ostara Advisors to lead next funding round.
Bengaluru based climate tech startup Carbon Masters has raised a fresh round of equity funding to strengthen its renewable energy and sustainable agriculture solutions. The round was led by Schneider Electric Energy Access Asia (SEEAA), along with investments from Sangam Ventures, IAN Group, and notable individuals such as Sriram Sankaran (MD, Synchron Group) and Muthu Murugappan (CEO, Murugappa Group). Though the exact funding amount remains undisclosed, it marks a significant step forward for the company.
Co-founded by Som Narayan and Kevin Houston, Carbon Masters converts organic waste into clean energy and natural fertilisers. Their flagship products, Carbonlites biomethane (CBG) and bio-enriched organic manure, are produced through projects operated via joint ventures (JVs) and special purpose vehicles (SPVs). One such JV, Sustainable Impacts, in partnership with Hasiru Dala Innovations, runs a key waste processing facility in Bengaluru. It recently secured pipeline injection clearance from GAIL, enabling it to deliver biogas to hotels, restaurants, industries, and city gas networks as a green alternative to LPG and CNG.
The fresh capital will help the company increase production capacity, expand its fertiliser range, and enhance efficiency across its five operational CBG plants spread across Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. The startup also plans to grow its sales, marketing, and R&D teams as it prepares for its next equity round. Investment advisory for the upcoming round will be managed by Ostara Advisors, India’s first climate tech focused transaction advisory firm.
