Schmooze, the dating platform based on memes, has secured $4 million in a Series A funding round with Elevation Capital at the helm. Notable angel investors who participated include Ultrahuman's founders, The Souled Store's executives & Paytm as well as Mosaic Wellness’s team members.

In the past, Schmooze had obtained $3.47 million from Inventus Capital Partners along with other investors.

According to a press release by Schmooze, the newly acquired funds will be utilized for expanding user acquisition efforts. Schmooze, established in 2021 by Vidya Madhavan and Abhinav Anurag, fuses memes' cultural significance with cutting-edge AI technology to bring together people who share similar senses of humor, personality traits, and interests.

By scrutinizing users' meme interactions, the platform allows them to uncover matches that align with their individual sense of humor and move beyond trivial swiping. This eradicates any complications during the matchmaking process.

As per information given by the company about the app, they have featured an AI coach called Genie, who enhances the entire dating experience for maximum engagement and fun while promoting authenticity. Its main objective is to combat loneliness and social disconnection experienced by GenZs through innovative features such as Roast AI mimicking conversations with a stand-up comedian, alongside Rant-AI offered as an interactive digital diary responding to user inputs ensuring constant companionship even when they're alone.

According to its reports, Schmooze boasts a user base of more than $1 million in India and has recorded around 900 million meme swipes. Additionally, the app has demonstrated a female-to-male user ratio that is three times higher than other popular dating sites.
