  •  Raised Rs 9 crore in pre-Series A round led by IAN Group and others
  • Aims to cut ambulance response time from 12 to under 8 minutes
  • Serving 850+ cities with real-time tracking and 24/7 dispatch system

Dial4242, an ambulance service platform powered by technology, has raised Rs 9 crore in a pre-Series A funding round headed by IAN Group with the support of BioAngels, IIM Bangalore's NSRCEL, and other key angel investors.

The funds will be utilized to enhance the startup's vision of making sure that no life is lost because ambulances are not available. Founded by Jeetendra Lalwani in 2016, along with co-founders Nilesh Mahambre and Atin Verma, Dial4242 runs what it asserts is India's largest on-demand network of ambulances, reaching more than 850 cities. The platform provides real-time tracking of ambulances, automated dispatch systems, and a 24/7 call center to improve emergency response.

With the new capital, the company will cut its existing turnaround time from 12 minutes to below 8 minutes, invest in technology upgrades, marketing, leadership growth, and establishing medical centers in underserved communities. Motivated by a very personal bereavement, Lalwani explained, "The death of my father, my biggest inspiration, was the most heartbreaking moment of my life but it ignited a mission to convert sorrow into influence. This turned into a mission to make sure that no life is lost because of the absence of an ambulance."

Dial4242 operates an asset-light, tech-led model and has tied up with large companies such as Amazon, Zomato, and Swiggy to provide medical assistance to workers in the gig economy. Its less than 12-minute average turnaround time, the company says, is the quickest in the nation. Describing the investment, IAN Group Co-founder Padmaja Ruparel said, "Dial4242 is absolutely solving a genuine problem and certainly a need that can occur at any point of time. This team of Jeetendra has already set up the operations on a solid ground with a solid business model with a clear idea of saving lives."

In the next 12 months, the company will build its tech capabilities, triple trip volumes through marketing, roll out a free ambulance service on low-cost memberships, increase its user base, build deeper hospital partnerships, and get more muscle in its product, business, and operations teams with the aim of sustaining the fastest emergency response benchmark in India.
