TheWeddingCompany.com, a wedding planning and execution platform, has raised USD 1 million in a pre-seed funding round from LVX (formerly LetsVenture) and Tremis Capital. Other investors who participated in the round are Chaitanya Ramalingegowda (co-founder, Wakefit), Ajith Pai (COO, Delhivery), and Arash Ferdowsi (co-founder, Dropbox).
Established in 2023, the startup seeks to consolidate and digitalize India's USD 130 billion fragmented wedding services industry. It provides end-to-end services across venues, photography, catering, logistics, and decor.
The funds will be deployed to expand to new cities, develop product and technology, and establish a vendor partner ecosystem to standardize service delivery. The company states that The Wedding Company has coordinated more than 1,000 weddings in eight cities, completing wedding service orders valued at Rs 60 crore (about USD 7.2 million). It also had a 100-fold increase in two years' worth of monthly bookings, and it has a current monthly service order of over Rs 10 crore and net revenue of over Rs 1 crore.
"The Indian wedding market is big and complicated, but there isn't a trusted, end-to-end digital platform", said The Wedding Company's co-founder Pawan Gupta. "Our objective is to provide a quality-assured and operationally profound planning experience, driven by technology".
Referring to the investment, Chaitanya Ramalingegowda added, "The team is solving a high-friction consumer issue in a big market. Their execution and knowledge of the space are outstanding".
The Wedding Company has second-time founders as its leaders and is backed by operators and investors who have experience in creating consumer internet businesses in India.
