Maritime Startups Receive Rs 1.8 Crore in Seed Capital from IIM-K and Cochin Shipyard

  • IIM-K LIVE and Cochin Shipyard Limited have sanctioned Rs 1.8 crore in seed funding to six early-stage maritime startups under the USHUS initiative.

IIM-K LIVE, the business incubator of the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K), in partnership with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), has sanctioned Rs 1.8 crore in seed funding for six promising early-stage start-ups under the USHUS initiative India’s flagship maritime start-up support program.

The selected start-ups include Wroxai Pvt. Ltd. (Coimbatore), Hyetron Energy Pvt. Ltd. (Chennai), EyDelta Pvt. Ltd. (Bihar), Xtent Innovations Pvt. Ltd. (Calicut), Mafkin Robotics Pvt. Ltd. (Jaipur), and Xera Robotics Pvt. Ltd. (Chennai), according to a press release issued on Monday.

With this round of support, the total sanctioned funding under the USHUS programme has reached Rs 4.4 crore for 14 start-ups, of which Rs 2.1 crore has already been disbursed to eight ventures. The initiative continues to foster innovation and build a vibrant ecosystem in India’s maritime domain.

The seed-funding award ceremony was attended by senior representatives from CSL and IIM-K LIVE, including Prof. Ashutosh Sarkar, Executive Director of IIM-K LIVE; and Dr. Krishna Prasad S., Harikishen E.S., and Bindu Krishna from CSL.

Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM-K, emphasized, “USHUS exemplifies how academia and industry can co-create platforms that nurture young ventures with both purpose and potential.”

CSL CMD Madhu S. Nair added, “USHUS has already created over 70 high-skilled jobs and plays a key role in indigenizing scalable sunrise technologies”.

Launched jointly by IIM-K LIVE and CSL, USHUS aims to drive entrepreneurial innovation in India's maritime sector.
