Consumer brand startup EDT has raised $1.4 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Sauce VC, with participation from prominent angel investors. The round saw backing from Mithun Sacheti, Cofounder and former CEO of CaratLane; Amit Khatri, cofounder of Noise; and Vatsal Singhal, cofounder and CTO of Ultrahuman. Caitlin Kalinowski, Head of Hardware at OpenAI, has also joined EDT’s advisory board.
Founded by Naiyya Saggi and Vyasateja Rao, EDT operates in the direct-to-consumer space, focusing on cookware and home appliances. Saggi, who previously founded BabyChakra and later Co-founded the Good Glamm Group after its merger, said the fresh capital will go toward product development, consumer research, and setting up inventory and manufacturing. The brand plans to begin commercial shipping in January.
EDT aims to position itself as a modern, design-led brand that blends technology with a 'better-for-you' approach. Its products emphasize safer materials such as glass and food-grade plastics. The startup is targeting Indian consumers who want to move up from mass-market brands like Philips and LG but find premium brands such as Dyson too expensive. EDT’s pricing is expected to be about 10-15 percent higher than Philips, while offering better quality and design.

The company currently has five to six products in development across home, kitchen, and personal care categories. Industry data shows growing interest in smart appliances, driven by post-pandemic lifestyle shifts. With more nuclear households and younger consumers making purchase decisions, EDT sees a strong opportunity to build appliances designed for the next generation of Indian homes.
