Foodtech startup Mealawe has secured $1 million in funding through a combination of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Shark Tank founders, and angel investors from companies like Goldman Sachs and Oracle.
The funding will be utilized to expand operations by increasing women-led kitchens, enhancing corporate cafeteria solutions, and strengthening partnerships for organic ingredient sourcing.
Founded by Rupesh Kumar, along with Co-Founders Pratap Haldar and Nikhil Jain, Mealawe started as a platform connecting home chefs with customers to offer healthy, homemade-style meals. As it grows, the company is incorporating home chefs and women from the workforce into a structured kitchen setup, creating economic opportunities while preserving the essence of home-cooked food.
To maintain high nutritional standards, Mealawe directly sources organic kitchen essentials, including bilona ghee, wood-pressed oils, and organic spices. By collaborating with farmers, the startup ensures both superior food quality and promotes sustainable agricultural practices.
Beyond meal deliveries, Mealawe has introduced a corporate cafeteria management platform, enabling businesses to offer quality meals without logistical challenges. For smaller firms without physical cafeterias, the startup provides a virtual cafeteria service, ensuring seamless employee meal access.
Since launching in October 2022, Mealawe has experienced significant growth, now delivering over 30,000 meals per month.
Currently operating in Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kota, the company aims to expand its presence nationwide. Over the next 10 to 12 months, Mealawe plans to enter 14 more cities, targeting a monthly delivery of 1 million meals.
