Japanese game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, known for games like Elden Ring, Dark Souls Trilogy, One Piece, and PAC-MAN, has made an additional undisclosed investment in Indian game development studio and publisher, SuperGaming.
This investment was made through Bandai Namco’s startup fund 021, which was launched in April 2022. The fund typically provides investments between 10 million yen and 500 million yen ($75,000 to $3.75 million) per startup.
The 021 Fund focuses on developing new entertainment experiences while strengthening existing businesses. It has identified India as a key growth market and also sees potential in Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
“Bandai Namco’s increased investment is a strong endorsement of our mission and team to create world-class games and gaming infrastructure from India for both local and global audiences. This renewed partnership reaffirms our commitment to shaping the gaming industry's future," said Roby John, CEO & Co-Founder of SuperGaming.
Bandai Namco’s initial investment in SuperGaming took place in March 2023. Since then, the 021 Fund has observed significant business growth, stronger player engagement, and a deeper commitment to game development.
SuperGaming, founded in 2019 by Roby John, Sanket Nadhani, Christelle D’Cruz, Sreejit J, and Navneet Waraich, is known for mobile games like Silly Royale, Tower Conquest, and MaskGun.
The company also developed SuperPlatform, a cloud-based live-ops game development engine. Announced last year in partnership with Google Cloud, it offers a SaaS-based solution that integrates with game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine. Bandai Namco uses SuperPlatform for its official PAC-MAN game.
