Footprints Preschool & Daycare, an early childhood education and daycare chain, has raised $7.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Tanglin Venture Partners.
The startup will utilize the raised funds to expand its countrywide footprint, invest in intelligent surveillance and AI-driven learning platforms, and enhance digital interaction with parents.
Launched in 2009 by Raj Singhal, Purvesh Sharma, and Ashish Aggarwal, the Gurugram-based startup has established itself for combining child-centric pedagogy with technology to provide an open and safe early education experience.
Footprints now has over 175 centres in 25 cities, with over 48,000 parents. The centres provide programmes based on the US-based HighScope Curriculum, with a focus on all-round development, live CCTV viewing for parents, and mobile-enabled real-time updates.
"Our emphasis has always been on building safe, caring, and stimulating environments where each child's potential is identified and nurtured," said Raj Singhal, co-founder and CEO of Footprints.
"With the backing of Tanglin Venture Partners, we are now in a position to further enhance our impact and take our model to more families throughout the nation."
Footprints' growth strategy involves opening new centers, upscaling smart classroom infrastructure, and further developing its AI-based learning stack that aids in personalising developmental objectives. The startup also places emphasis on child safety through thorough staff vetting, child-safe infrastructure, and real-time monitoring features that are attractive to urban parents who seek trust and transparency in childcare.
Tanglin Venture Partners, a venture capital firm founded by ex-Tiger Global executive Ravi Venkatesh, has invested in a number of high-growth Indian startups such as Pocket FM, Moglix, Scapia, and Sugar.fit.
"Footprints is differentiated by its child-first approach, stringent transparency standards, and scalable, technology-driven operations," said Sankalp Gupta, Partner at Tanglin Venture Partners. "Their hybrid model of innovation positions them to drive the transformation of early childhood education in India."
