Hyderabad based Agritech startup Cornext Cornext is creating a fodder ecosystem to support dairy cattle farmers. Recently the company has raised $2.2 million in a seed round from Omnivore. The company has innovated a patented silage bailing technology through which they are solving the fodder deficit.

The company said that, the freshly grabbed funding will be used to increase the yearly silage production to 1 million metric ton by 2026 and they will also strengthen their R&D for bailing technology. Till date the company has launched 400 fodder entrepreneurs across India and has begun exporting its silage baling machines across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

The startup was founded in 2015 by Madhav Kshatriya and Feroz Ahmed in Hyderabad. The technology procured by the startup can make compact 50kg silage bales, which are sold to the dairy farmers through a network of village-level fodder entrepreneurs. Both of the founders have nearly three decades of experience in the field.

Silage is a preservation technique through which we can preserve the freshly cut fodder and use the year round without any spoilage. Currently they are serving as member of national Advisory Council of India’s Department of Animal Husbandry. They have received National Best Startup Award in Agriculture allied sector from Government of India.

The co-founder of Cornext, Madhav said, “Cornext aims to be the go-to company for all things silage. We are excited to have Omnivore’s support and make a positive impact on smallholder incomes and cattle health.”

Managing partner of Omnivore Jinesh Shah said that, the company has been solving chronic problems in Indian Agricuture. India’s milk productivity is one of the lowest in India because of the fodder shortage. He told that, he is very keen to witness Madhav and Feroz’s vision to become reality.
