Men's ethnicwear brand Kisah Apparels raised  Rs 13 crore (about $1.52 million) in a pre-Series A funding round led by Wow! Momo founder Sagar Daryani with contributions from Apoorv Salarpuria, Rahul Todi, Vinod Dugar, and Inflection Point Ventures.

The Kolkata-based brand will use the new funds to increase its offline presence, scale its D2C (direct-to-consumer) business, and invest in branding. Kisah was established in 2018 by Yash Sarawagi and Yashwi Ladasaria. The brand has established itself as a Gen Z- and millennial-oriented ethnicwear brand, providing affordable, high-fashion clothing that combines tradition with contemporary style.

Started as a marketplace-first brand, Kisah is now transforming into a full-fledged omnichannel player with two physical stores and plans to open three more in India's big cities.

"Reach and insights came from our e-commerce presence, and now the same data is informing our D2C and offline mission," said Yash Sarawagi, Co-founder and CEO.

The company placed a premium on data-driven decision-making, having developed robust internal systems that dissect marketplace and D2C performance. These learnings are influencing everything from product design and sourcing to marketing initiatives.

Kisah has reflected robust financial health, ramping up from  Rs 40–45 crore in revenues to an over  Rs 100 crore current run rate, with positive cash flow and profitability sustained.

With the growing need for fashion-forward, locally connected clothing in India, Kisah's plan to create a strong, omnichannel ecosystem sets it up for sustainable growth.
