
LPU student's startup acquires Rs 1.70 crore from Google Cloud

Rounak Adhikary, a student at Lovely Professional University, has garnered significant backing for his innovation, "ProjectX.Cloud" securing a substantial $200,000 (Rs 1.70 crore) in infrastructure support from Google Cloud. His project is centred around creating a cloud-based operating system with the goal of eliminating the dependence on hardware across diverse devices. The young founder, Adhikary, is actively in search of seed funding amounting to $3 million (Rs 24 crore) to further drive the growth and advancement of ProjectX.Cloud. Initially gaining recognition through grants totalling Rs 10 lakh from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Adhikary has also been recognized through the Microsoft Founder’s Programme and AWS Activate Founder’s Programme, securing additional funding exceeding Rs 50 lakh.
Articulating his aspirations, Adhikary expressed, “ProjectX.Cloud is committed to transforming device functionality by minimizing reliance on hardware”. The innovative approach of his project has earned it a position in the Launchpad accelerator at IIM Bangalore, capturing the attention of notable global venture capital firms. Adhikary's endeavours have attracted interest from several significant investors, such as IFC World Bank, Elevation Capital, Campus Fund, and Kalaari Capital. His vision and the distinctive proposition of ProjectX.Cloud has resonated within the investment community, highlighting the promising potential for future advancements in cloud-based technology.

Utilizing the same infrastructure employed by Google for its consumer products like Google Search, Gmail, and Google Docs, GCP offers infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, and serverless computing environments.
