A farm mechanisation equipment online marketplace termed MeraTractor, based in Pune, has secured Rs 5 crore from investors. The business has so far raised Rs 7.25 crore through the most recent Pre-Series A fundraising round.

The funding round was led by Vibhor Sahare, CEO & Co-founder of ANS Commerce and ex-CEO & Co-founder of Gaadi.com, Real Time Angel Fund and Digital Futuristic Angels Network, the company said in a statement.

Gaurav Gupta, CEO of Adani Capital, Shashank Kumar, Amrendra Singh, co-founder of Dehaat, Avinash Kumar, creator of Credenc, and Arvind Kumar, Business Head of Agri division at Force Motors were a few of the investors who took part in the investment round. According to the statement, the funds will be utilised to expand dealership network reach and advance supply chain organisation technologies.

"There has been significant work in crop cultivation, in ensuring better yield, farm-gate solutions and a push from the government to improve farmer income. However, farm mechanization for Indian farmers, of which over 85 per cent are smallholders, has been vastly missed out because of purchase capabilities," Sajith Abraham, Co-founder of MeraTractor, said.

The farm mechanisation industry, according to Monak Gohel, co-founder of MeraTractor, is poised for a big upheaval and has fostered an atmosphere for innovation that will support startups like MeraTractor in addressing the inefficiencies in the market.
