Mixx Technologies Raises $33 Million for Next-Gen AI Optical Interconnects
- Mixx Technologies secures $33 million to scale optical interconnect solutions for AI and HPC
- Funding led by ICM HPQC with participation from TDK Ventures and others
- Startup to expand R&D, manufacturing, and workforce across the US, India, and Taiwan
Mixx Technologies, a California-based deeptech startup building optical interconnect solutions for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC), has raised $33 million in fresh funding. The round was led by Singapore’s ICM HPQC Fund, with participation from TDK Ventures, SystemIQ Capital, AVITIC Innovation Fund, and additional investors.
Founded in 2023, Mixx develops hardware that uses optical fibers, essentially light, to connect GPU chips more efficiently. This technology aims to help data centers handle the massive power and speed demands created by today’s AI models. Vivek Raghuraman, CEO and Co-Founder of Mixx Technologies, said in an interview, “Data centers where GPUs run are consuming gigawatts of power. We’re developing a solution that allows GPUs to connect more efficiently”.
The company plans to use the capital to strengthen its R&D division, grow its engineering team in Bengaluru, and expand into new regions, including Taiwan. Mixx is preparing to set up manufacturing and operations teams in Taiwan starting January 2026. It currently has teams in the United States and India.
Co-founded by Raghuraman and Rebecca K Schaevitz, Mixx Technologies expects to grow its team from 25 to more than 75 employees in the coming months. The company is hiring for senior roles in integrated circuits, photonics development, and key business functions.

Earlier, Kaynes Technologies acquired a 13.2% stake in Mixx for $3 million in January 2024. Investors say Mixx’s work is critical for the future of AI computing. “Mixx Technologies represents the kind of deeptech innovation that strengthens the entire AI compute ecosystem”, said TDK Ventures president Nicolas Sauvage.
The funding comes amid rising investor interest in optical interconnect startups. Last week, Singapore-based LightSpeed Photonics raised $6.5 million for similar AI data center technologies.
