Mumbai based E-Commerce portal raises $7.4 million from Hindustan Media Ventures
Mumbai-based B2B e-commerce portal Beldara has raised $7.4 million from Hindustan Media Ventures with the first tranche of $4.2 million.
The startup plans to use the funds to enhance brand awareness and for its new venture in agro B2B products, "Farm 2 Globe".
Beldara is a global B2B marketplace established in 2014 by Pradeep Khandekar that connects foreign suppliers with buyers all over the world and now it has 30 product categories with global user traffic. The platform sells items in a variety of categories, including accessories, apparel, electronics, home appliances, and personal care. Furniture, rubber, plastic, and polymers, energy and fuel, office equipment, food and beverage, and jewelry and gems are among the other categories represented.
The company also has plans to raise Pre-Series A funding to expand its presence in the national and international market. It is said that the company has raised $300,000 in its seed round in 2019.
“Beldara is communicating with a couple of HNI Investors for the pre-series A funding round. The utilisation of these funds will be done for the expansion of Beldara internationally,” says Pradeep Khandekar, MD & Founder, Beldara.
Anirudh Singhal, Strategic Investment Head of HT said, “Beldara is empowering the small and medium businesses as well as retail traders in India through technology. It enables retail traders to buy a wide range of quality products at the best prices. At the same time, the demand aggregation helps the suppliers in improving productivity and therefore operating margins. We share the vision of Pradeep and are excited to partner with him in the company’s growth journey.”
Beldara competes with many other well-known Indian startups, including Udaan, Infra.market, Moglix, Power2SME, and Pumpkart, among others, in the B2B e-commerce sector. Many of these, on the other hand, focus on particular verticals. For example, Infra.market, which joined the unicorn club in February, is a B2B online procurement marketplace for real estate and construction materials that uses technology to provide consumers with fair pricing and a more pleasant procurement experience. Pumpkart, likewise, sells appliances and electrical products.
