Indian ocean surveillance startup PierSight has successfully raised $600,000 in a pre-seed funding round, with All In Capital leading the investment. This funding will be instrumental in advancing the startup’s satellite subsystems, expanding its talent pool, and acquiring crucial electronic components for comprehensive testing and integration.

Alongside All In Capital, other notable participants in this funding round include Techstars, an early-stage startup investment firm and accelerator, as well as a group of angel investors such as Andreas Klinger, Vismay Agrawal, and Nikunj Jalan.

Based in Ahmedabad, PierSight has ambitious plans for utilizing these funds. In addition to improving its technology readiness level, the startup aims to establish partnerships with social and environmental agencies to collaborate on solution development, prototype creation, and joint research initiatives.

One of the distinguishing factors of PierSight’s approach is its use of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology, typically employed in defense applications, for persistent ship monitoring. This innovative approach allows for high-precision imaging regardless of weather conditions or time of day, making it a powerful tool for ocean surveillance.

Kushal Bhagia, Founder of All In Capital, expressed enthusiasm for PierSight’s unique blend of technical expertise and business acumen. He highlighted the company’s pioneering use of SAR technology to achieve continuous and precise maritime monitoring.

PierSight was Co-Founded by Gaurav Seth, who previously worked with ISRO, and Vinit Bansal, a former National Instruments professional. The startup’s primary mission is to provide uninterrupted ocean surveillance using a constellation of SAR imaging and Automatic Identification System (AIS) satellites, allowing for the continuous monitoring of maritime activities at 30-minute intervals.
