Spiritual and devotional platform Utsav has secured Rs. 6.35 crore in a funding round led by Mumbai-based venture capital firm Equanimity Investments, with participation from existing investor India Quotient.

The newly raised funds will be used to expand operations in India and abroad, recruit talent, and enhance technological capabilities. Co-founder Ankita De highlighted the platform’s global expansion plans, particularly catering to NRIs who often feel a stronger need for virtual pujas.

Founded in 2021 by Ankita De, Sourajit Basu, and Prajata Samanta, Utsav offers users a virtual service to book pujas, receive prasad via home delivery, and consult priests. The platform currently attracts around three lakh organic monthly website visitors.

Based in Kolkata, Utsav has partnered with over 60 temples across northern, eastern, and western India. It aims to expand its network to 100 temples within a year and strengthen its presence in South India. De-emphasized the significance of temples in Madurai and Rameshwaram, which are in high demand but not yet featured on the platform.

She noted that travel limitations and restricted real estate at spiritual sites make virtual offerings essential, ensuring people can receive blessings even if they cannot visit in person.

This funding round comes at a time when interest in spiritual and devotional apps is rising, particularly with the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Platforms like Utsav are expanding their services to meet the increasing demand for virtual pujas.

The growing popularity of virtual spiritual services reflects a broader shift towards digital solutions in religious practices. With advancements in technology, platforms like Utsav are bridging the gap between devotees and temples, making rituals more accessible to people worldwide.
